A number of new eateries have opened along the stretch of the Gold Coast Highway that runs through Mermaid Beach. One of them is the All Time Coffee Company. We stumbled across it by accident on a wander after dining at Muso Ramen. It is quite low-key, just lettering in gold on the darkened glass window announcing the name of the place. It doesn’t grab your attention as you drive by, but if you’re walking past, the people wandering in and out will.
It has a lounge-like feel, with black walls and wooden floors. The paler wooden ceiling squares and rosey brick wall behind the service counter make the place a little brighter. COFFEE, says letters filled in with flowers on one of the walls, in case you wonder what their main offering is.
There is a tan leather couch and a low wooden coffee table on one side of the seating area, and more standard seating with more wooden tables and stools along the other side. Pots of greenery sit at the end of each table, and keep it from looking starkly industrial. Speakers play relaxing music, echoing indie ballads at a comfortable volume. There is a stack of magazines and newspapers on the coffee table for patrons to browse through as they either wait for or imbibe their drinks. It is comfortable, and feels like a good place to catch up with friends, or just be.
The coffee options are listed on a board with pin up lettering behind the counter. All the standard options are there, and a few simple food items like jaffles. There is also a range of doughnuts in a display case at the counter, if you get there in time. The few times we have been there though, they were already sold out.
Their main offering though, is caffeine. We’ve tried their hot coffees and their cold coffees. Both are good. The flat white was tasty, mellow and smooth, with no bitterness.
The iced latte comes with a optional dash of maple syrup. It has a rich, nutty, caramel flavour, rounded on the palette. Even without the maple syrup, it tastes good, and is great for a warm day.
Staff were cheerful and friendly each time we’ve been there, and make you feel welcome.
The All Time Coffee Company is definitely somewhere to head to for good coffee and a nice place to pass some time.
